Aadhaar Correction Guidance

Guidance on correcting errors in Aadhaar records through the official UIDAI process — name, date of birth, address, gender and other demographic details.

About This Guidance

Aadhaar is a critical identity document linked to government benefits, scholarships, bank accounts and welfare schemes. Errors in Aadhaar records — including name, date of birth, address or gender — can prevent families from accessing entitlements. Cute Stars Foundation provides awareness and guidance to help families understand the correct UIDAI process for updating or correcting Aadhaar details.

We do not process Aadhaar corrections on behalf of families. All Aadhaar updates must be done through official UIDAI channels — online via myAadhaar portal or in person at an Aadhaar Enrolment or Update Centre.

Common Aadhaar Corrections

Incorrect spelling of name in Aadhaar

Wrong date of birth recorded

Incorrect or outdated address

Wrong gender recorded

Mobile number not linked or incorrect mobile number

Email address not linked or incorrect

How to Update Aadhaar Details

UIDAI processes and fees are subject to change. Always verify the current procedure on the official myAadhaar portal or at your nearest Aadhaar centre.

1

Online Update via myAadhaar Portal

Visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and log in with your Aadhaar number and registered mobile OTP. Select 'Update Aadhaar Online' to update address, name, date of birth or gender. Upload supporting documents as required.

2

Visit an Aadhaar Enrolment or Update Centre

For corrections that cannot be done online, or if your mobile number is not registered, visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment or Update Centre. Carry original supporting documents.

3

Supporting Documents

Accepted documents include birth certificate, school leaving certificate, PAN card, passport, voter ID, driving licence, or a government-issued document showing the correct information. UIDAI publishes the full list of accepted documents on its website.

4

Biometric Update (if required)

Children who enrolled before age 5 must update their biometrics (fingerprints and iris) after turning 5 and again after turning 15. This must be done at an Aadhaar centre.

5

Track Your Update Request

After submitting an update request, you will receive a Service Request Number (SRN). Use this to track the status of your update on the UIDAI portal.
